Your best defence is to know where infection can come from. What are the vectors (carriers) of a virus that can hurt you. One of the biggest is kids. They go to school and whatever is going around the community they catch. They may show symptoms, or they may not. Kids in school should basically be banned from long term care institutions and all other older peoples homes as soon as they go back to shool and not be allowed to come back in until they get out in June. You have to realize that the kids infect everyone that comes to the home, workers, visitors, family etc. So you have to ban them to stop them from killing you. Until we can quickly test for all viruses that could kill old people, we should ban all visitors from homes during the fall and winter months. Harsh, but the basic reality of virus infections at the present time. Medicine just doesn't know enough yet to help us. Another big one is those people that go travelling throughout the world. Most get little sleep when they leave and end up being easy victims of whatever the hell virus is going around in the plane and wherever they go. People who go on trips should isolate themselves for a week when they get back to ensure they have nothing that will kill their older grandparents and parents. No one who is sick after a trip should interact with anyone and should stay at home. Anyone who is sick should stay at home to stop infecting other people and potentially killing the people they come into contact with. People from other countries used to be isolated until they showed they had no infections. It was an intelligent policy, and still is. Remember that the first immigrants from Europe made sick and killed many of the indigenous inhabitants of North and South America. Nothing has changed. The vaccines can not stop you from getting infected or becoming infectious to others. It is unclear at the present time whether the vaccines can protect you from getting seriously ill. That is the advertisement, but we are all guinea pigs at the present time and medicine is learning. If you have gotten all the vaccines and experienced no serious side effects, maybe it does not matter, but science is still learning about that too. We do what we think we have to do. Good luck and good health to us all!
