Canadian allegiance is not to the king of England, it's to the king of Canada, who has both jobs. As well as being the King of New Zealand aka Aotearoastan. Elected members of Québec refused access to parliament because they did not swear alegiance to the king of UK.

Once upon a time, Canada, New Zealand and others were directly ruled as British subjects, by Queen Victoria. But over many decades, they became more and more independent.

The Pommy parliament has no say in Canada or Aotearoastan these days.
