Robert Walter, Compaq has the edge because of it's agressive posture in recent acqusitions. IBM's last buys have all been software related. Gernsner has his head up his ass. Read his exculsive interview of IMB new vision. He is focusing on electronic comerce with emphisis on voice recognition and cyber cash transfer. Not one iota mentioned on Semiconductors. Who is the head of IMBSemiconductors division. You can name him because he has no visable profile. Without leadership in the Executive suite the deal dose not get done. Toss the non US possibilities AMD is part of Semtech and US considers simiconductors strategic, restriction on CPU technology would not be allowed to fall in Non US hands. I heard a story yesterday that Semtech/Pentagon is leading efforts to reverse engineer new generation of chips with properties and capacity beyond belief. Now get this the reverse engineering efforts are being extended on material recovered from a downed Alien Space Craft. Please don't shot the messenger and hold the cards and letter please my mailbox is already full of unread offerings!
