Changes or amendments to the Constitution are legal and healthy. This is what Jefferson meant. He did not mean that a President who was soundly defeated at the polls by the vast majority of its citizens should say Fuck You to the Democratic Process and Constitution and try to remain in power by claiming fraud without proof.

Donald Trump tried by every legal, bureaucratic and illegal means to overturn the 2020 election and failed. He not only asked for his Vice President, Attorney General, Justice Department, Secret Service, FBI, CIA, Judicial System to help him overturn the election results, but he tried to enlist the help of the US Military to keep him in power -what is called a military coup - all to no avail. He then tried to call for US citizens to rise up against Congress and the Constitution to keep him in power and that failed too. At this point, his support is slowly waning. Independents, many conservatives and centrists are turning away from him. He has a very passionate, vocal minority support. But not nearly enough to win reelection unless the USA first goes into a very deep recession or depression and even then I have my doubts. Trump went over the line in so many ways that I think he is done, finished. And he is getting worse and worse as the days and years pass on. Trumpies don't see it, but the man is self-destructing before our very eyes.
