I read a book of essays put out by the original Puritans, by Doubleday, years ago. It was very interesting to read. I enjoyed reading John Cotton. But he came from one of the colonies, Massachusetts, I believe that outlawed the practice of all religions, except Protestantism.

I identified with the American Transcendentalists much more, Thoreau, Emerson, Fuller, Alcott, Channing.
