First, a trader sent me some picks to post - REAL, TELC - both looked good to me.

Second, AMAT strike price for me was 41.75 before I exit for the year- although I will trade that one as it swings. Right now I am looking for 38.

Stops - one sets stops based on two criteria - what the swing is for the ticker, and your risk tolerance. General rule of thumb is 8% below the previous day's low if you have been in it for awhile and making money. It really depends on the stock though - if its NAS and the mm's are going down and grabbing shares (single downspikes on charts), then you want to stay below that range. I will write up something shortly and post on this to make it clearer, and with examples. 2% is pretty tight, even for a $56 ticker like PGO - two or three days ago it went through a 2% spread intraday. However, if you Set stops depending on the pricing pattern for just yesterday, 2% would be reasonable for PGO especilly if you want out if it goes below that threshold or if thats your acceptable profit margin.

CUBE - 24.75, and may adjust upward if it penetrates 24 on enough volume

Mutual Fund Screen

Using Morningstar's Ascent software, I reduced 6900 funds to a list of 25 worth considering. From that 25, I followed them for awhile, did a little background research on the fund managers, their portfolio changes and ended up with 5 to invest in. Basically, all have 5 star rating by Morningstar, average to below average risk, high growth, are in the first decile for performance, all are no load, minimum of a 20% annualized 5 year retun, and minimum of 35% three year return, and growth or growth & income oriented. They are, with the tickers listed:

Torray (minimum $10k investment) TORYX
Vanguard Growth & Income (min $3k investment) VQNPX
Gabelli Growth (min $1k investment) GAGBX
Legg Mason Value Primary (min $1k investment) LMVTX
Selected American (min $1k investment) SLASX

The Vanguard fund is the most rounded in terms of the sector weighting for its portfolio, having invested in Financials, Technology, Cyclicals, Services, Health, Energy, Retail, Utilities, Staples and Durables. The other funds are basically in the first 4-5 sectors listed. They are not listed in any particular order.
