Yes I own COMS, I bought a bunch of it with margin just before the Asian meltdown happened in Oct.

I have followed the company for years and like Eric B. its president quite a bit. I knew about the USRobotics problems before I bought it and I still like the company, especially at this level. It has been frustrating for investors in this company but 3Com is turning the corner on this massive accquision and we should start seeing better numbers this spring.

Cisco and 3Com are my #1 and #2 picks in the networking area. Cisco is pulling away from the pack faster than I expected but I also expect 3Com to pick up speed this year. The other networking companies have some very serious problems to deal with. Bay Networks has the best chance to hold on here, at least for a little while longer! The networking industry is consolidating very rapidly. (Thats why I like the techs, things happen fast!)

Cisco's growth rate is slowing down but that is to be expected. They are the only ones with an end to end solution and that will propel their growth for a long time to come. The voice networks are next. If I were LU or NT I would be very worried! The shark has been let loose!

Regards

Eric

Jeff:
I own a small amount of 3COM too. I held on to my U.S. Robotics stock and let it be converted to 3COM. I am behind on this stock but it has been making steady gains lately so I am glad I did not sell.

I bought Cisco about 1 1/2 years ago at a split adjusted price of $34.
It is such a super long term hold stock. I am just "po folks" but even I went over the $1 million mark today on my total portfolio. It took 20 years to do it. It should take 3 years to double that number. How is that for an optimist.

Eric is an excellent source for advice on Cisco and other stocks. If he wasn't, he'd probably have to become a broker. Just kidding.

I have been encouraging my friends in the Chicago area to buy Cisco. Some have and they have called to thank me. Good luck.
