Agree. Almost all of the discussion held is in context of "substitution" of one form of energy dependence for another... the quibbles clearly about seeking to control people and sustain or redirect the flows of $... more than they are about anything else.

I think innovation should have the opposite goal... liberating us from the tyranny of control... price manipulation... market manipulation... requiring dependence in connection to the grid.

"They" won't allow any tech that actually eliminates their control...

There is potential in many innovative techs... to enable life "off grid" without any decline in standards of living... and without everyone paying a lot more to enable it...

But, the current generation of tech "isn't there yet"...

So, rather than solve the problems they don't want solved... and lowering energy costs... they're instead trying to artificially force fossil fuel prices permanently higher in order to 1. make "alternatives" cost competitive only due to market controls... while 2. enabling transfer mechanisms and access controls that give "them" a cut of the $$$... while defunding those who benefit from $$$ flows now...

They want to kill the (generally conservative leaning) oil industry... and force you to buy your grid power from Jane Fonda's friends...

It's all about the $, power and control... zero to do with "concern for the environment"...
