Mike,

we are all biased. Trying to be objective, I have to say the Sidman post is a rather extreme interpretation.

1) Korea is very cloudy but as I posted earlier, it appears QCOM has already taken a worst case scenario approach.

2) Handset prices coming dn is a fact of life and QCOM is trying their best to lower cost to compete. The biggest mistake, (my opinion), is the Q phone. I think the co clearly overestimated demand, especially in Korea. Sounds like they are moving production capability to the lower lines which are still in high demand. Since Q phones are more labor intensive, the temps are not needed for the lower lines.

3) There were no former discussion on how well the Samsung phones are selling vs QPEs.

4) If there were questions about management credibility, they were not expressed by the people asking questions.

5) The discussion regarding basestations focused more on vendor financing. I think Sidman is confusing vendor financing with buying business.

Judging from the one post, I don't think Sidman gave credible representation of the bear side.

Mike-

#3 is rumor and was not mentioned at the meeting at all.

#5 I did not hear mention or discussion of this topic.

#4 Management made it pretty clear that they were sandbagged. Indeed, there is an item in today's Nikkei News out of Korea bragging about 500000 new pcs subscribers. I think things came to a rapid screeching halt and fooled everyone including the Korean businessmen. There is currently someone from Q management on a trip to Korea and Japan to sort things out in Korea and promote the business in Japan. Japan could be the quiet giant that rescues the princess.

That guy must have been on CRACK! NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING in his "notes" was said at the annual meeting (except for the part about the clouds). I have no idea where he came up with that crap. Says something about what you can trust over the internet. The guy must be a short.
