UKR leadership at this point demands a capitulation by Russia. They say - no negotiation and no peace until this condition is fulfilled. Russia must return every inch of Ukr territory - including Crimea. Russia must commit to pay reparations - and Russian leadership would stand trial in Europe. So, the Russian response is - they want Ukraine to acknowledge defeat. Kind of, no surprise there. I still don’t think they’d accept being in control of ALL of Ukraine. You couldn’t pay them enough. In todays world, control over territory where people hate you - like Western Ukraine - is nothing but a liability.
