>>> Might finally push Japan out of its economic funk and into a new bull phase.<<<

I think, ultimately, any military-industrial complex in all of its enormous entirety - is a big fat parasite, sitting on top of a national economy. With a few exceptions - like new inventions and technologies that may be trickling down — it produces nothing. It only consumes. And the inventions could be done by civilians just as well.

The only rational justification for its existence are the needs of national defense. And there, every nation can and should have choices and priorities.

I can see that Japan can be justifiably worried about North Korea. But if they’re any smart, they’ll stay away from China - which still must have a lot of anger against Japan. Trying to flare it up would be stupid.
