Joe -
I am a Syquest owner and long on stock and I've ignored latest
financials as I believe it's too early to show Spar- Q impact, if any.
What really bothers me is market penetration and public awareness of
products. When shopping in computer stores I strike up conversations with customers and sales people. It's appalling how few have ever heard of the product - "What's that"? First month of Q's introduction went well with front page exposure in catalogs and products on front shelf. I realize vendors sometimes have to offer a financial enticement for good catalog and shelf exposure but Syquest's exposure is absurd for the second month. Featured in catalog on 34th page in a 1/2 inch
layout at bottom while IOM is on front cover. Currently, in 3 major local NY chains product is on shelf behind service counter while IOM,
HP, Compac and "MegaDrive" etc have large floor displays as you walk in. As my coach used to say "you'ed better turn in your jock strap---"

Re: >>>They seem to have a long history of abandoning previous customers.<<<

Did you happen to read Emory's post where he wrote: "Computer shopper recently had a review of removable HD's and they mentioned that SYQT management was hinting that a new version of the SyJet was on the way. "

I would expect that any "new version of the SyJet" would be backward compatible with the 1.5 GBs. I can't imagine the EdHeads would offer the drive without this feature, unless it was a totally new product, which is also very unlikely IMO.

This is probably a non-issue either way in that I can't see Syquest allocating any of their precious little cash for another product ramp at this time. With the Quest's current capacity so near that of of the SyJet, I wonder if SyQuest will ever offer the new version.

Good to hear from you again Joe. Hope you're making a killing in the market. You might want to keep an eye on SYQT for a little while. I expect to see some good trading opportunities.

Regards - Dale
