Bob, I understand the tax issue and do almost all of my option trading in IRA. I try to minimize trading in taxable account. Some options, like yesterday's T sale I hope to be assigned, in others, I am satisfied either way. With short term options, if not assigned, I can try again the next month. Everyone needs to find a strategy which meets their needs and risk tolerance. Mine is continually evolving and these discussions often help with new ideas.
