Do you remember Phoebe in Friends? How emotionally manipulative she could be just for the fun of it? I've known girls in real life that Phoebe wouldn't hold a candle next to. We sometime sent one of them to negotiate for us. They know what they are doing (well some of them do). But personally I don't like such people. One of the ways to deal with them is to posit your position as a question, "So, are you threatening to put us on the street if we don't agree to your terms?" In fact formulating your position as a question is a good negotiation tactic regardless of who you are dealing with. This is what Trump often did out of habit.
