Loney, not Looney, -g- AMAT is not even close to being the worst case. They, after all, are not losing money and probably should show a decent profit unless things get even worse. All we are arguing about is growth in eps. But look at MU. Here is a company losing money with little chance of having a profitable year any time soon, with lousy finances, and it sells for the same as AMAT. Now, that is nutso.

My main complaint with AMAT's reporting goes back to the order from their partnership last quarter. Of course they have to book it, but I felt pointing to an order that is basically internal as a sign that things aren't so bad is pushing the envelope. Also, the CEO is almost always too optimistic for my tastes. But so are the CEOs of many firms I own. And so was I when I ran a fund. -g- I guess it goes with the territory. MB
