In regards to the non-rumor about compaq buying pairgain (a possibility mentioned by Mr. Murphy of the California Technologies Stocks Newsletter). I think the following information refutes the non-rumor, but I could be wrong. I found the following news in the Washington Technology trade magazine:wtonline.com (tech business button) "compaq, Ameritech partner on high speed internet" 2/5/98 --article basically says that compaq will test and install modems and nic cards that Ameritech, Chicago is using for the Ameritech.net high speed internet service. The equipment will be available on compaq presario pc's later this year.
