Wharfie, about 15 years ago there was a movement to rename Korea as Corea.

Supposedly the reason why Korea is spelled with a K is because it happened during the Japanese occupation. Japan didn't want Corea to come first in the Roman alphabet, so they renamed the country Korea.

I guess that movement fizzled out, but for a time, it was cool to see sports banners during the World Cup that said "COREA" instead of "KOREA."
