Bed, Bath, and Beyond announcing bankruptcy... Is this a surprise to anyone when all this company's items are made in China??? This is not the first bankruptcy announcement and there are likely many more to be announced in 2023... About a year ago I mentioned large retail bankruptcies seemed very likely, it's finally taking hold more recently... And now very possibly yet another new major leg down for these markets as the recession worsens and spread globally... Valuations are still way over priced and the debt to GDP ratio is above 130% and still rising... What make things even worse is that this particular economic downturn isn't just cyclical which means we'll see the bounce back afterwards, this down turn is secular which is a completely different circumstance... How does a large retailer survive in a secular downturn economic environment??? The simple answer is that it doesn't... So many businesses have outsourced all their manufacturing output to China, just how stupid can that be???
