In the USA I built a replica percussion 54 calibre St Louis Hawken from a kit. Got in the mail as it's not even considered a real firearm in Maine. It was my favourite firearm ever. It came with a 50 calibre barrel too.

I didn't stain it or use varnish. Tung oil puts a nice finish to Oak.

That and a black powder 1858 replica Remington 44 pistol with the brass frame. Is all the firearms I ever really wanted. I did pick up a bunch of other stuff too. but they were less important.

In Scotland air guns have now to be licensed, and any kind of illegal firearm gets max attention from the police.

Illegal starter pistol import? That's 5 years in the can these days. Minimum.
