Western geopolitical “thought leaders” didn’t celebrate the demise of the USSR as a victory for the good guys - they just took it as a victory. Period. Which meant, the other side showed weakness - which needed to be exploited. Now, Russia is pushing back. They are proving their determination and ability NOT to be defeated and “decolonized”. Tragically, it’s happening at an enormous cost to the Ukrainian people - 74% of whom voted for a man who promised no nato, Donbass autonomy, Minsk accords - in a word, peace.
