Biden may be Cheneyed
A smaller majority actually empowered Gaetz

One Friday ago, Democrats were laughing and chomping on popcorn and having a good old time as Republicans went through ballot after ballot and still couldn’t elect a speaker. They went on TV and asked how can Republicans lead when they cannot elect a leader, hardy-har-har.
This week they found out Republicans can lead. The discovery has them so panicked that they are dumping their own president overboard. Far from damaged goods, Kevin McCarthy is off to a flying start as House speaker.
Nick Arama reported, “House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has been making good on some of the promises he has made including forming a Select Committee to look into the weaponization of the federal government against the American people.
“That drove the Democrats mad. They flipped out big time, with Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) showing how nervous he was over that and lied his head off about what the Committee was about. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) smeared the Committee, calling it the ‘Select Committee on Insurrection Protection.’ He got hilariously fact-checked on that lie by Twitter Community Notes. But you know that means that they’re afraid of what the Committee might find and how it might interfere with their ability to control things.
“But now McCarthy is dropping something else on the Democrats that is going to make them flip out even more. He said that he was open to releasing all the security footage from the January 6 Capitol riot, all 14,000 hours of it, which Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) never wanted to release in the presentation of their political narrative.”
Democrats are in trouble. Loads of it. Hence, the Classified Caper to serve as a diversion from the feces that is about to hit the fan.
Fox reported on Thursday, “Biden classified documents: 2020 campaign video shows him backing Corvette into garage.”
The circled area in the photo accompanying the story was where the classified material was stored by Biden. The rest of the press is desperately trying to downplay Biden’s security breaches.
Not so their coverage of the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago five months ago. Not satisfied with the facts, the media published and broadcast false allegations. The press has never corrected its massive errors in reporting or apologized.
The raid was as ineffective as the Mueller witch hunt but its purpose was to get voters to believe that Trump was a dangerous man giving nuclear codes to Vladimir Putin. In that way, it succeeded. Biden will pay for that success.
Discrediting Trump was part of the Biden campaign’s attempt to steal the midterm election. Democrats also used ballot harvesting and shutting down voting for hours in Maricopa County, Arizona, a Republican stronghold.
It worked, I suppose, because Republicans received 3 million more votes than Democrats in House races but gained only 9 seats in the House. The price Democrats will pay for making the majority that thin may be the Oval Office. The Freedom Caucus and Matt Gaetz held the speakership hostage for a week. They gained the ability to put Speaker McCarthy on a short leash.
This did not make him weaker. The reluctance to make him speaker made him stronger and aggressive. His first move was expelling Adam Schiff, Ihlan Omar and Eric Swalwell from powerful committees. His next move was appointing special subcommittees to investigate the Biden administration.
A larger majority would have made Gaetz and company irrelevant. A larger majority would have allowed McCarthy to go along with Democrats to get along. A larger majority would have made him soft as grandma’s pillow.
Needing 218 of 222 votes empowered the Freedom Caucus. The result is Republicans are doing what they said they’d do. A You Gov poll found, “By 44% to 16%, Republicans say that Kevin McCarthy will be able to serve effectively as Speaker of the House.”
Republican voters are happy. They are about to get happier.
That poll was before Friday’s story in The Hill, “McCarthy says he will look at expunging Trump impeachment.” I believe The Hill meant impeachments.
McCarthy has the deep state sweating over the release of all 14,000 hours of video of the mostly peaceful protest inside the Capitol. The FBI and the Capitol Police have a lot to answer for. The McCarthy House will ask those questions.
Republicans want fighters, not uniters. This is not your father’s Republican-controlled House — if your father were Dennis Hastert, John Boehner or Paul Ryan. This is an Old School majority that is worthy of Newt Gingrich. What they lack in numbers they make up in determination. They already are making a difference.
Ryan Saavedra of the Daily Wire tweeted, “If Republicans did not win control of the House of Representatives, thus giving them subpoena power, the public would still not know about Biden's document scandal.
“The administration knew the GOP would learn about it so the administration leaked it hoping to control damage from the fallout.”
The rest of the Washington press corps does not get it. The bylined beauties believe Republicans are just going to roll over and play dead.
As I said on my blog on Thursday, “No one wants to be Cheneyed.” Every Republican in the House now is a Trump Republican. They are saying harrumph, harrumph because no one wants to lose his phony baloney job.
Gaetz is the power behind the throne, to borrow a cliché. Long before Trump uttered a word denouncing her, Gaetz promised to primary Liz Cheney after she voted to impeach. She went from the No. 3 Republican in the House to persona non grata.
Other Republican congressmen noticed this. Now no one wants to run afoul of Gaetz, especially after he dragged McCarthy through 15 votes to become speaker. Readers may have heard of the Walk of Shame when a woman walks back home in the light of dawn after a one-night stand. McCarthy's was a Crawl of Shame.
Humiliation is not a bad thing. Being humbled sets your priorities straight. My guess is Democrats are humbled as well because suddenly Republicans are showing spine. If Democrats are going to go to the mats with a Gaetz-driven Republican House majority, they are going to need someone who isn’t a Biden.
Bob Hoge has a theory that the Classified Caper is a plan to elbow Biden out of the Oval Office. Given that today’s conspiracy theories keep turning into tomorrow’s news, who am I to dismiss Hoge’s theory out of hand?
He wrote, “Conspiracy theories are flying around the internet, with both the harpies at The View and intellectual midgets like Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Georgia, (he who once thought Guam might tip over due to over-population) opining that the documents must have been planted. Honest Joe would never, ever be like Trump and get careless with years-old secret docs concerning Ukraine and Russia!
“A more interesting theory hitting social media, however, is that this is an orchestrated Democrat plan to get rid of Old Joe and prevent him from running for reelection in 2024. Even Dems can see that he is a diminished president, with his barely comprehensible speeches and dreadful approval ratings. They managed to scrape by better than expected in the midterms, but they’re terrified Biden could get handily tossed out of office should he choose to run again.”
This begs the question of what makes Biden so toxic? His party lost only 9 seats in the House and even gained a Senate seat.
That is how the press is looking at it. Don’t expect them to tell you. Their reports are about as off-target as one would expect. They stand by their man. They are running interference for him with their weak arms and lame arguments.
Yahoo said, “Why the Biden documents discovery is different from Trump's Mar-a-Lago case.
“The circumstances surrounding the documents found at an office used by Biden are very different from those regarding the documents found at Mar-a-Lago, experts say.”
That was written and posted before we learned that Biden was hidin’ state secrets in his son’s garage. Nothing quite sells bad oil paintings like packaging them with access to classified documents.
CNN reported, “There are clear distinctions between Trump and Biden’s two cases.”
Yes, the former made money so he could run for president while the latter ran for president so he could make money, which is why one brought home trinkets from his presidency while the other parked state secrets in his son’s garage to auction off.
CNN said, “Unlike in Trump’s case, Biden doesn’t appear to have tried to assert ownership of the files, to obstruct their handover or make outlandish claims that he had previously declassified them based on an undisclosed private thought.
“Trump is being investigated by Special Counsel Jack Smith to see whether he infringed the Espionage Act by keeping classified material and for the possible obstruction of justice.”
Left out of the CNN report is the FBI learned about the first set of Biden’s classified documents in November. The FBI kept this secret until after the election.
The press may not see what happened, but my readers do. The disclosure of Biden’s Classified Caper came only after Speaker McCarthy’s battle with Gaetz, which resulted in a tougher Republican House. The disclosure came after McCarthy banished the traitorous trio from committees on intelligence and on foreign affairs. He showed he means business.
An energized Republican House can soil Biden almost as well as he soils himself. His one argument for the office was that he could beat Trump because he was a nice and harmless guy, unlike the rhymes-with-witch Hillary.
Gaetz and the Classified Caper have stripped him of that argument. A replacement for Biden awaits for 2024 in Sacramento. Biden is on his own. The Classified Caper shows deep state has the goods on him. Blackmail works. The intelligence community is helping Democrats relieve their Dumbass-in-Chief of duty by releasing this story one set of classified documents at a time. We are up to three separate cases.
Josh Hammer wrote, “It is thoroughly unsurprising that the federal law enforcement apparatus and the corporate media buried the news of Biden's malfeasance on the precipice of the midterm elections. The Democrat-Media Complex, as the late Andrew Breitbart called it, demands nothing less than such complicity.
“But the timing of the leak from various federal law enforcement actors now, just as Biden is beginning his second term, suggests there is real internal turmoil over at the Democratic National Committee. Perhaps someone at the DNC instructed deep state spooks that now would be a particularly propitious time to leak sordid details to the media. Perhaps someone at the DNC thought that Joe Biden did his job by shepherding his party through the midterms without succumbing to the much-feared red wave, but that he is now disposable and should be replaced at the ballot in 2024 by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA). Loath though I am to speculate, it is difficult to think of a sounder explanation as to why, only now, all of this is coming out.”
Rogan O’Handley tweeted, “They’re using stolen documents to take down Biden instead of his corrupt dealings in Ukraine & China in the same way they took down Andrew Cuomo for sexual harassment instead of nursing home mass murders.
“They know the end is near so they send them out on lesser crimes.”
Ironic, isn’t it? Not cheating would have saved Biden from the Gaetz of Hell because Republicans would have had a larger majority and McCarthy would not have needed Gaetz to vote present. A first ballot victory would have made it easy for McCarthy to be another folding chair as speaker.
Instead, Biden may be Cheneyed — by a lean, mean fighting machine.
