The IKN newsletter this weekend pointed out that the big money is still not at all interested in gold, at least according to what is going on in the ETFs they usually use as their vehicle for investment. When they finally take notice, that should give the PoG a kick upward.

Maybe that's why Saville has updated his call for gold to make a new ATH this year, saying it might even happen in Q1.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

The commercials increased their net short positions in both silver and gold.

Ed Steer's comments (keep in mind Ed differentiates between the Big 8 commercial shorts and the managed money shorts who tend to be on the wrong end of the trade):

"Returning to the precious metals...with the Big 8 commercial shorts not adding to their short positions by much in either silver or gold over the last several months, they obviously know something that we don't...at least not yet. And as Ted's "sea change" discovery in December's Bank Participation Report shows, the bulk of the short positions in both these precious metals now rests on the shoulders of two or three non-bank commercial entities. The stage appears to be set for the end of this price management scheme that's been ongoing for the last 50+ years."
