I think, my read has the advantage of being simpler - only one brain fart, by the white team player who missed the penalty shots into the wrong basket. And everyone in the room just followed the action and went along with it.

But - we don’t really know. Would be interesting to find out more about the story :)

That's how I saw it too. The blue player getting consoled on the sideline afterward pretty much confirms that.
