AH;

Right you are; I did misconstrue your post, but my statement of clinical trial testing is still valid. The people who have responded to my post (thanks guys) feel that phase 1 testing for breast cancer is unnecessary but I still feel that not to do so may be taking unwarranted risk if they do not get prior FDA approval. The previous phase 1 testing may simply have a different target population; eg prostate cancer patients are all male and are treated differently than female breast cancer patients. Although phase 1 testing is usually done in healthy subjects, the subjects can be from different target populations and therefore results from phase 1 tests from one target population cannot automatically be generalized to another target population. Does anyone think that phase 1 testing in, say, adult males is transferable to females of child bearing potential? To do so without FDA approval runs unwarranted risks imo. Company IR statements about considering phase II options are ambiguous and leave the company lots of wiggle room; it is positive spin intended to encourage investors imo, but doesn't really commit the company. I hope this clarifies my point which I still think is valid, whatever Ligand ultimately does.
