So called Hobots already exist, have for some time, and are quite popular, especially in Japan. I think I'm on record somewhere on SI for predicting this well before it ever happened. Let me go on record now predicting a booming business in "replacement parts" for these things. Not just the size or shape of these "parts", but even the NIL (name, image, likeness), i.e. that your hobot is now outfitted with the authentic replica parts of your favorite celebrity.

As an aside, the AI needed to make these things was only made possible in the early 2010s by the emergence of neural network chips. I predicted back in 1997 that a fictitious company called Techniclone was about to put Intel out of business as the inventor of such a chip. I truly think I could have raised hundreds of millions in venture capital on this premise, but had no desire to do so back then. Instead, I made my mark in life, so to speak, as also correctly predicting laser printers would obviate the need to ever have to buy and store pre-printed forms. That was a big "duh", but someone needed to create this standard so why not me? And I did. Yet a coin predicts football games better than me. Go figure lol.
