How do I create a chart of the cumulative Advance-Decline Line? Several of the market breadth indices that we track are best viewed cumulatively, rather than in “raw” form. For example, the NYSE Advance-Decline index ($NYAD) is very “spiky” when charted directly, but forms a smooth curve called the “NYSE Advance-Decline Line” when plotted on a cumulative chart. To create such a chart, simply select “Cumulative” from the “Type” dropdown below the chart. Click here to see this in action for $NYAD.
