hi calvin..

great questions.. i think TA would help anyone.. whether using P&F or candlesticks, etc..

sunw test of 50 resistance was achievable.. anyone into short-term trading and had their system set up right would have gotten the sell signal.. (not saying at 50, but close to it)

going to lunch. see ya.

Calvin,

Like yourself, I have recently found TA to be very promising. With the help of Chris and other posters on this thread my understanding of the different indicators is growing rapidly. Might I also suggest a TA seminar. Doug R (of "the 56 point TA" fame) puts on seminars which are well spoken of by posters on his thread as well as others. I will be attending one on March 7 in Myrtle Beach. The cost for the seminar is $250. You may want to check it out

Best of luck
David

Hey Calvin,
A scalp is what traders do when they think they can get a short drop in price, thus a profit, off of a short. Risky but can be fun. Done with stocks who have run up considerably.

As long as a stock is above its bullish support line and you are long, don't touch it. Add on pullbacks. If you are a trader you may vacillate more.

Your analysis of investing without TA is correct and I must add if you only have TA without FA you are completely clueless.

Point and figure is very user friendly. There are craftsmen out there that are better than others but the learning curve is not high.

Here is what you do:

1) Go to dorseywright.com for info.
2) Sign up for the free two week trial at Dorsey Wright.
3) Buy the book "Point and Figure Charting" by Tom Dorsey (Amazon.com has a good price on it)
4) Visit the Point and Figure thread and ask lots of questions.

You will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe even find P&F religion, a lot do. :-)

Hope to see you over there,

Jan

P.S. Thanks for the compliment on Mr. Supply and Mr. Demand. Very powerful men even if they do dress funny.
