Frosty, end of the day ( for me, GG ) commentary:
-market is threading on thin ice. Everybody knows it but few want to admit it.

-Asian debt ( Japan, holding theirs, and the rest of Asia's ) will come down like a ton of lead bricks as soon as a Repubblican leadership takes over a fallen Clinton and decides they don't want to fend off the bankruptcies of their No 1 competitor ( Japan ) by funding IMF more than 30-40 bill $. Big crash although not a reccession.
- poor sales in Asia will affect eps of A LOT of Cos directly or indirectly.
-market leadership is lost.

-In the ED field meanwhile everybody is totally confused ( except a few in this thread of course, GG ) and to start with don't know the basic difference between organic and inorganic so they can't decide
how to assess ED. There are two opposite camps of opinion and they don't know who to believe. So they wait for some tangible proof; UK and FDA approval at least. The few bold ones accummulate, on faith based often on in depth research that is difficult to quantitate: what's better for a headache, Tylenol or Aspirin?

- I had an interesting conversation with a researcher in the retina -
phosphodiesterase field. ( I just called him up. This is how I find out about things. Just call somebody up, introduce myself and ask, gg ). He said that most of the knowledge of PDE content is in the superficial retinal layer containing rods. however most of the visual process occurs in the cones. He feels also that there are many more types of PDEs in the retina than only type VI and that a lot of those reside in the cones were not a lot is known about. He said that certainly continued stimulation of the retina
bt PDE inhibition could result in a toxic retinopathy although he wasn't sure about macular degeneration. He had never heard of Sildenafil although he heard about the urethral pellet. He said he was going to look this up more and we'll talk some more about it.

-meanwhile the camps are very clear now to me: Viagra is more SYSTEMIC
more exposure of all the organs. Just like asthma drugs which are called " Beta selective " and are supposed to act only in the lung, yet we know that at higher doses they become non selective and also affect the heart. So the idea that you are using a different key only holds up to a certain point. Vivus is local; with the ability of putting other drug combinations to act powerfully locally. Local is ALWAYS the preferred mode in medicine. And finally sildenafil cannot work if a person can't get at least a prtial erection on his own:it is an erection enhancer; Vivus we know works in at least 37% of these .The Werthman study comparing Vivus to the needle. Viagra has never been compared to the needle.
