You may be right about ESA's management. A good friend of mine was high up in Studio Plus, the chain taken over by ESA, and left after the takeover. He is now at a high-level position at a huge lodging firm and I asked him what he thought about ESA. He responded saying he held a ton of stock from the takeover, but he was looking to unload some because he has almost 0 confidence in the management. He said that while Studio Plus was well run, ESA is not. He said however, that ESA should do well in the long run because their size allows them to overcome their poor management. He also added that when he meant poor, he ment compared to Studio Plus, which he thought was excellently run. I believe him because he has had great success picking winners and losers over the long term.
