"The exception is Korea all of whose digital operators are using the CDMAOne standard, which Nokia has so far refused to support."

The exception to what? Korea's mobile market will be the only one not to grow, or Nokia won't be getting any growth from there? Anyway, as we know, it is untrue that Nokia has "refused to support" cdmaOne, for which it has bought a license and is selling phones. There seems to be some confusion in this article. But anyway, impressive results for Nokia!

Caxton...I don't know who Jeremy Scott-Joynt is or who he works for, but that article is pure fluff. Not a thing in there except the earnings figure that has any meaning at all. eg. wireless will continue to grow in SEA, duh, Korea is CDMA, double-duh!

As for the G3 WCDMA stuff, I guess Irwin addressed that pretty directly at the meeting. Also, its still not clear to me just how much demand there will be for mobile wideband services. The more interesting question for me is what will a capacity constrained system operator in Europe do between now and 2002 (if ever) if he is presented with a viable, cheaper, alternative in the form of a cdmaOne overlay.

OT...OT..(with apologies to Ramsey and Maurice)

Its getting close to Spring training time, Caxton. How are your boys looking on paper this year? The Marlin firesale continues apace, but I'm looking forward to scoping out all those rookies that we're getting in exchange for our world champions -- yeah, right!

I'll never forget the day that Nokia dude was in an open field with his hair blowing...going on and on about how everything was great. Then the next day, they reported lousy earnings and the stock tanked $12. And now...

>has yet to be seriously affected by the currency crisis in the rest of the region. ˜˜˜˜˜˜ The exception is Korea all of whose digital operators are using the CDMAOne standard, which Nokia has so far refused to support.<

What's that weird "y" thing...??? Now their press releases are acting strange. ; )

At least we don't have Jacobs "refusing" to use superior technology with his hair blowing off La Jolla. When he talks, he gives $15 million away to promote technological advancements in education.

Caxton,

I knew I should have listened to Tero and buy Nok.A instead of following the advice of a bunch of Q-heads. Brian h and Shi, do you guys remember the Chinese classic novel about the man named Q. Do I feel like him today!!
