What would one expect from First Albany, which, just coincidentally makes a market in both ORCL and SYBS?

Relavence? Informix will continue to recognise customer advanced ("unearned") revenue in coming quarters, as per new accounting requirements. These are still 'new' users in the sense that revenue will only be recognised when new users sign up with the channels. If there were no licences sitting in the channels, then I would assume that these would have been 'new' licences for Informix.

Watch out for Informix 8.2. 1998 is the year the RDBMS will clearly outstrip Teradata performance.

I wonder how much Mr. Ellison had to pay for this piece of information. First Albany must really need the money.
