Yeah... I think that concept is mostly BS, too...

The last thing you want is to take a system of systems that are independently functional and then "integrate" them to ensure that any single point of failure ensures others fail, or the entire system fails.

I object, anyway, to the basic concept of creating that forced dependency and the control that centralized systems have as their purpose.

If you're going "green"... that should also mean ensure going independent... with overlapping sources rather than singular options that are the opposite of robust. Solar tech is good enough as a part, now, to enable that independence and redundancy in most places... and, its even more economically viable than being grid dependent if you're more than a mile or so away from existing copper transmission wires... which is probably where you want to live, given current trends.

A lot of miners are going green with solar now... probably less for altruistic reasons than for liberating themselves from others future resource tyranny... and the future uncontrolled expenses tied to that control intended in grid links.

Noted news recently that they've validated a new nuke power plant design for the first time in a long time...

But, what we should have is every house independently powered off its own mini-nuke... which would be safer and present a much lower risk profile than duplicating more future Chernobyls and Fukushimas.

Micro-hydro also under exploited...
