Do you know the speed of a solid object hitting flat water at impact and what happens?

Why is jumping into water from high altitude fatal?

That means the water needs to be accelerated in this short time first, and accelerating 50 kg of matter with your own body in this very short time will deform your body, no matter whether the matter is solid, liquid, or gas.

Terminal Velocity and Free Fall - ThoughtCo

In general, a person falling through the air on Earth reaches terminal velocity after about 12 seconds, which covers about 450 meters or 1500 feet. A skydiver in the belly-to-earth position reaches a terminal velocity of about 195 km/hr (54 m/s or 121 mph).

Either way, Qone0, I don't think we're going to get all that much intel about China's military technology from that balloon.

If they were stoopid enough to hand over their latest and greatest electronics on a silver platter like that, then that can only be good news for us.

Personally I'm more alarmed over reports that this wasn't the first, and that several other incursions happened without the public knowing.
