Armstrong is adept with his history lessons, but I believe his "computer" is simply him and his interpretation of the anecdotal stories he picks up from people he knows and his contact base is worldwide. He has hit on a few of them, but has fallen woefully short on some others.

Is he worth the read? Yeah. I think so. At the very least one can buttress his or her understanding of history, because regardless of the criticism from his detractors, Martin shines when he is talking about world history.

How important is that? King Solomon wrote, "there is nothing new under the sun". If you understand the past, you will see the future at least rhymes with it over and over again because Mankind has not really changed.
