I am not sure who your broker is, but if you use TD Ameritrade it is very easy to buy Bonds online.

I just go through my broker (in this case Vanguard). They offer the service of participating in the Treasury auctions through your brokerage account. I've done this through Schwab too.

I've also done this through a Treasury Direct account, but haven't done that for quite a while.
