Paul, my picks are HMAR and PAIR.
HMAR 5 yr growth 40%+...Forward PE (98) < 8. Sales expected to almost double in 98 from 210 million to about 400 million. Whats not to like.

PAIR All I can say here is that xDSL will be BIG and PAIR makes $$ and sits on a pile of cash not to mention they have a big market share.

Stock picks

AQUX 5 7/8

Lots of insider buying lately, and extremely oversold. not the best F/A out there, but for a short term play looks good to me.

DATM 14 1/2

Has been basing in a tight range for some time and looks ready to break out soon. trading just over book value, p/s just over .6, plenty of cash and reasonable debt.

Stocks I would have liked to play

ATMS 2 15/32 think 3.00+ is posible

MOOV 1 1/2 merger play with upside to 2 - 2 1/8

Cuz:

You are imposing a difficult task on the traders......
Buy and hold.....for a LONG time ---- months ......
I can only imagine the mental anguish that Ron is dealing with.....ggg

In opposition to my feeling that the market is going to continue an upwards path, I submit the following two stocks in a SHORT position..

Phelps Dodge---PD---
next few months don't pose to be favorable to this copper producer

Caterpillar----CAT---
Asian problems are going to cause this one to revise estimates

PD has production difficulties and a copper price that is creating havoc

CAT was up today on the news that the strike was settled---
my feeling is that the union settled because it could tell that the ongoing monetary problem in Asia was going to create a slowdown in production

Seems as if I can recall that you made the rules to allow short positions.
If not, that's OK.
I'm usually on the back side of the world anyhoo.......

that's my submission
SHORT
PD
CAT

Regards---Nemer

Cuz:

Red just came in while I was typing my submission on the shorts to you.

As this is a family channel, we wont go into the ridicule/derision/truth of the conversation about me chunking out SHORTS for the contest....gggg

When she inquired about who was entitled to submit picks, I informed her that anyone could and would and should and .......

To make this post short and to the point.....

The long tall redhead from NE Texas has instructed me to submit the following picks in her name-----

WLA----Warner Lambert....down today and yesterday on an incorrect report about the new drug (diabetes) which has fallen from 12% of the market to below 8%...........

MTC----Monsanto....
is on the way to
obtaining and/or
using without obtaining ownership
of DeKalb Genetics proprietary products-----
which is up close to 25% in the last few days.

The above descriptions of persons and and stock is accurate....

the redhead is 5 foot 7 inches
size 4
meaner than a cornered cottonmouth
sweeter than a bale of sugarcane

WLA is on the way to 160 before the split to be voted on in May
MTC is the future of the world food supply

Submission of the following----

WLA
MTC
in the name of Red

Regards---Nemer

Paul, my stock picks;

I guess I 'bout gotta keep my picks where my money is, and that's in Telecommunications, CLEC's (competitive local exchange carriers) in particular. These guys are at the heart of the consolidation going on, which already has them trading at pretty steep prices. But there is still more to come (hopefully by the end of your contest). Whoever owns the local customer will be the big winners and AT&T, Sprint, the Baby Bells, British Telecom, etc has to do something. My choices, WinStar (WCII) which closed Friday at 35 3/8, and Intermedia (ICIX) which closed Friday at 65 1/4. Both are trading pretty rich, but both can go much higher IMO.

I've got a suggestion for Zer's to think about that I think would make the contest (maybe not this one, but for the future) a little more exciting and a little more realistic. I understand that you don't want portfolio trading going on, but I think you ought to allow people to sell there picks whenever they believe the time is right. If you normally buy and sell between support and resistance, I think you ought to be able to sell your picks near resistance, realizing though that that pick is closed and the profit is locked in. No more buying would be allowed. And I wouldn't allow it to be an interday decission, or it could get pretty hard to keep track of (ie stock could open at 48, trade to 52, then back off to 49, and someone could post late "I sold at 52"). Selling could be posted before the opening, ie I'm selling ABC at 52 if bid gets there today. Or allow them to post sometime before the opening, "I'm selling ABC at the open". But I think this would make the contest much more interesting and realistic without adding too much complication.

My first pick is ARS,

ARS
Price $9 3/8

T/A: bb daily support at 9 and 8 1/2, resistance at 9 3/4 and rising. bb weekly support 8 1/2, resistance at 10 3/4 and 12 5/8. If it breaks 10 it should move to 12 quickly. Stock is way oversold and just gave a stocastic buy signal.

F/A:American Residential Services is engaged principally in providing comprehensive maintenance, repair, replacement and new equipment installation services for heating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, indoor air quality systems and major home appliances,
primarily in existing homes, homes under construction and commercial buildings.
The current low price is a reaction to pre-earnings announcement of large 4Q loss. Low interest rates will continue to stimulate new building, and the real estate cycle, which lags the business cycle, continues to rise. Stock price is just under book value. El Nino may create extreme weather changes stimulating increased a/c and heating use. (or not.) gggg

Price $8 3/8

I own this one at 6 11/16, and have traded it before.

technologies for creating, editing and manipulating computer graphic
images, digital art and Internet/on-line content on the desktop for

America, Europe and Asia, MetaCreations' professional and consumer
software is available in more than fifty countries. The company's
