Respond to of 219538 Agree with you about Thailand. I've loved it every time I've visited. And, real estate... but, have, unfortunately, lived an overly-mobile life... in which a lot of my time was spent in places where the last thing I wanted was to create any form of tether... Doing some shopping now, though... while looking ahead for opportunities still to come... But, not complaining... just back from a trip to my daughters place in Hawaii... with a couple of days in Waikiki... and, the trip was well timed. There were a couple of days that the surf was spectacular, and uniquely so one day, at least on the North Shore... VIDEO Fortunately, I managed to avoid re-inventing the drama of the body surfing story I've told previously... Unfortunately, though... the day before the big competition... I did manage to find a wave powerful enough, while I was not wearing my surf shoes, that it resulted in my shredding my feet in some coral... and banging up my knee on a rock that was well enough coated with tiny barnacles that I left them a good snack... and, pretty far out... so spent more time than I'm comfortable with "chumming" the local waters getting back in... Walked gingerly for a few days... still have a bit of coral in my right foot that's slowly being dissolved... but now long past the point of causing any pain. By the time I felt like getting in the water again... it wasn't really worth making the effort... But, next time, will try to stick to the plan to surf Waimea Bay, which has the key advantage of fewer rocks and no coral at all, on a beautiful all sand beach that's usually got fewer tourists on it than a lot of others. Found a little cove on the west shore where the waves crashed in over the near shore rock reef, then flowed into the cove between some larger rocks where it got deeper again... so, I swam out to the rocks, and dove in off the rocks to swim against the incoming surge when a set of bigger waves came in... and then crawled back out onto the rocks before it sucked me back out over the reef... I do love playing in the water... at least in those more tropical climes... Got a decent sunburn... and a bit more rock rash... but, then... limited myself to walking the beaches for the rest of the time... Well... that, and eating insanely good food... randomly met someone I knew who had a condo just up the beach... and stayed out a bit too late, and enthusiastically, at the bar, one night... Didn't love the airline experience... which has had me studying what's going on there since getting back... which is interesting enough... but, for later...
