i always expected them to keep an eye on everybody at the big political events I attended, but I am close to a number of people they were watching, and sometimes arresting, back in the late 70's. The ones who went to jail called themselves political prisoners, but they committed real crimes, like bank robbery. The last of the group was raided cuz the feds thought they were providing sanctuary for a Weather Underground fugitive; they weren't.
