i'm thinking that possibly the selling
of $732 mil. of receivables to banking institutions
maybe a positive, if in fact the receivables
are in foreign currencies.
with a strong us dollar, why would CPQ want to
risk exposure to unstable asian currencies?
does anyone know the nature of these receivables?

also CPQ may have been padding 4Q 97,
while looking ahead to a blowout 1Q 98.

just a thought....paul.

You could hear the big sleeping 900 lb gorilla groan today as
the analysts and "journalists" prodded it with their pens and
pencils. Let's hope they back off before it awakens. He will be
mean, lean and unforgiving to those who shall stand it it's way.

They hype the stocks while selling calls and buying puts...and then after it made its nice run-up they downgrade it...and then sell the puts.

The worst of course is when they sell their stake and then the following day they downgrade the stock. Of course the classic, upgrade after it has already gone up 50% is a kicker as well.
