I work at a large IT shop for a retailer, 450 programmers. At the end of this fiscal year we are 30% ahead of schedule on our Y2K fix. The original estimate that IMRS gave us was for 23 million plus, we decided to do it ourselves and it looks like the fix will come in at around 3 million.

Most of the Y2K shops are hyping this up to charge more to the companies that they want to do the fix for, we are doing it ourselves and saving enough money to build another supercenter and stock it for the grand opening.
