Since you have such a negative view of CCUR and the potential to make money on the short side is limited with a 2 dollar stock why do you spend so much time on CCUR.

I live in the MediaOne market of Atlanta. I was forced to get
a set top (Scientific Atlanta) if I wanted to continue to have
Showtime even though I have a cable ready TV and VCR.
Showtime was about $3 cheaper than HBO and the set top costs
$3 to rent.

MediaOne is laying Fiber in the Apartment complex's
near me. Apartments are like Hotels. Apartments have
younger "clients" who have grown up on computers and are not
afraid of technology. Those Generation X'ers (or is it Y now)
that advertisers crave.

CCUR is a small company and has limited capacity. It is fine with
me that the build out takes many many years because they can
maintain sales over many many years at the same time supply
the soon to be ready Hotel Market. Maybe the big guys will not
have the slow drip patience.

Microsoft and CCUR will work well together. VOD will be an icon
or equiv. on the window viewer. Or hot button on the browser.

Ken; You live in Birmingham ? Isn't Bell South in trial
with ADSL technology there ?

From this Sunday's paper here in Atlanta I saw an article
on ADSL vs. Cable. They concluded that you might be able to buy
home equipment by this Christmas but it would be 2000 or after
in which the Bells will have enough stuff in place to offer
ADSL.

A slower version called ADSL Lite takes less repeater equipment
and may be available sooner but it is not in trial yet.

I was a little taken a back by some of the comments made by some of the other CEOs. I guess not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for the next generation of cable offerings that the TCI CEO does.

I do understand that that is the way some industries go though. There has to be some innovator that goes out and takes all the chances and makes all the mistakes while everyone stays on the side watching and waiting. With the speed of technology today it doesn't take long for companies to take advantage of what the competition has found out. Fair? Maybe not, but there is some level of premium that goes to the innovator.

I'll be watching the success of BskyB with their digital roll out in the spring. That should be test on how far interactive tv is from reality in the U.S..

My case in point is Callaway Golf. No one thought it possible to make an oversized metal driver. The big bertha had revolutionized the way golf is played.

So although at first I was dissapointed by some of the comments, I am not swayed. I do have hope for the industry.

The other reason that makes me bullish is that the residential portion is not the only play in town. There is growth in the hotel and airline sectors. Anyway, for me, strength minus weakness still is greater than the uncertainties.

Assuming a PE of 15 and using the EPS estimates for fiscal '98, CCUR seems to be just about fairly valued at these levels. That along with an improved balance sheet and, in my opinion, capable management, I am comfortable at these levels and with these fundamentals.

Side comment:

The cable company in my area has begun switching boxes in some areas. The company is owned by Time Warner. The boxes are made by General Instruments. The new boxes coincide with new offerings such as a pay per view(listen?) music channel. I'm not sure what else they offer but there are some more options. As a personal note, I don't care to pay anymore for my cable bill. I pay around $33. for basic cable as it is, and I hardly watch tv. All the new boxes will do is start a black market demand for de-scramblers.

Have fun and good luck!

Scott
