An analysis of a negative article by a researcher reposter,et.al.

An article from Software skeptics, CBS Market Watch.

cbs.marketwatch.com

"I don't want to spoil the party but while we are enjoying
the ride let us make sure that we are not loosing the true
prospective. So let us exchange the view on some of the
analyst's concerns." {Reposter's heading]

Article : Total of $4-billion market for databases.

Reposter: Is this true? If it is, is it nationwide or worldwide ?

Article: Unlike its larger rivals, Informix doesn't have an
applications business to complement its core database sales.

Reposter: If Mr. F. focuses on the highend database,
does he have enough space to bring up the revenue and the
earning so we can see the stock back into twenties. ?

Article:. For First Albany's Tholemeier, Informix is
essentially going about business backward. He advocates
the company pushing applications, which will eventually
generate demand for a larger database to organize all of
the information generated.

Reposter: Is this a real concern for Informix ?

Article: Tholemeier pointed out rival Sybase, which
reported much lower-expected-earnings in its most
recent-quarter, has taken steps in that direction. On
Wednesday, the Emeryville, Calif.-based company
bought data warehousing developer, Intellidex Systems.
He backed the acquisition, saying the company's push
into data warehousing "is the
most crucial path for revenue growth" for the company.

Reposter: Informix has been focusing heavily in data
warehousing and similar technology for a long time and
I think competition should be a problem.

Article: "They're not out of the woods by any means,"
BT Alex Brown's Chin said. He attributed part of the
stock's increase on Thursday to the perception that a
profitable Informix would be more attractive to suitors.
IBM has been rumored in the past to be interested in the Menlo
Park, Calif.based company.

Reposter: The analyst is wrong and I firmly believe
that stock went up based on the fundamental and not
on account of the rumor.

"This stock is still dead," said Andrew Brousseau,
an analyst at Cowen & Co. "It's a temporary profit.
They've stopped the bleeding, but there still isn't
anything indicating that sales will improve in subsequent
quarters."

It looks like the analyst started bleeding on account
of Informix turn around situation. He should not
overlook day volume of 28 million.

Informix strong partners in a vertical market, Healthcare
solutions.

"Informix is dedicated to supplying healthcare solution
providers with the best underlying database technology
to power their applications," said John McCauley,
executive director of Worldwide Industry Marketing
at Informix. "The fact that we support our partners instead
of competing with their solutions has ensured very
successful relationships."
