This "vaccine" is different.

Your are correct. The MRNA technology is an extremely targeted approach to delivering drugs to an individual. By using the person's own RNA mechanisms to synthesize the payload it makes it much more likely that the final payload is completely compatible with that person's body chemistry. The old technology of drug manufacture had to create a general purpose protean that may or may not be compatible with the individuals specific body. The MRNA provides a blueprint for the drug, not the actual drug, and lets the body create the drug using it's own mechanisms. The resulting drug has been produced by the same RNA process that the body uses to produce all it's internal chemistry.

This is why the also-ran pharma companies are so afraid that they will not be able to compete with this technology. This is why they pay think-tanks to find ways to slow down the advancement before the also-ran pharma become completely irrelevant. This is why the think tanks either dupe the ill informed to write their nonsense or pay the unethical to write their nonsense. There is a lot of money at stake in the old one drug for all, or the new drugs tailored by the patients own cells to create a drug better suited to that individual.
