Yet we think we are so important LOL

Spring inches closer by the day now. Today is dreary and grey, alternating between big heavy wet flakes, and tiny little fluffs making it look like there's glitter falling...

I've spent a lot of time recently parsing what's out there in the market now...
which varieties of apples, pears, cherries and plums...
and which providers have each of them or which rootstock

and have settled on a list of trees to buy.
That means... I have to start digging holes
Spending time out of doors... in the elements.

The chickens have decided to lay more prolifically already
as the temperature have risen from single digits

and now swing between mid 40's and high 30's
with quite a lot of sunshine on cooler days

I have pretty well perfected the process of making eggs in the morning
skills which atrophied while egg production was too slack to sustain it
are now being renewed... with a bit of experimentation adding interest
and, the results are only getting better

I considered asking the chickens what they think about this whole thing
with TEOTWAWKI closing in on us... and an AI driven Armageddon

now a near certainty...

But, decided against it...
Not wanting to distract them from spring coming.
So have asked them instead... where I should plant the salad garden
And which of the new fruit trees they'd prefer be inside their fence...

They're thinking about it.

Well, if it doesn't matter... we might as well stand on bridges and obstruct them, and yell at the morons about not having our freedom... because of them being morons ?

One thing to stare at the stars with wonderment...

Another, entirely, to surrender to evil because... what does it really matter ?

And, plug all that back into the discussion about the logic of "making better decisions" ?

Or, apply it in wonderment, still, while considering how people could be as stupid as they are... to end up immortalized in "Great Moments in Unintended Consequences"... ?

Reality turns out to be... shit happens... and much if not most of it happens because of choices made... a lot of which are bad choices... allowed to happen because people who knew better didn't do anything about it... or because they were unwilling to "disrupt"... or even refuse to cooperate... with those trying to kill us all.

But, a parallel reality exists... which is that optimism and pessimism... are just another choice we make.

"You are what you think you are... so be careful what you think you are"...

That's true... but it also means you have an obligation... to yourself, and to others... to think... and be careful ?

So, choose to be a slave to the AI robots... selected by the worst among us to rule us ?

Or... make better choices...

If AI is "the end of us"... it will be because someone chose that... and others chose not to interfere.

But, living in the real world... have to consider that the pessimism and doom and gloom... is mostly likely to be coming from... fostered by... those same people who are the ones most put at risk... from systems of decision making that don't prioritize their interest above others ?
