Kennebunkport is pretty. I'd point you to the North End in Boston for a meal. Old Italian neighborhood. My girls lived there together while in college and a bit beyond, so they know the spots for a meal and also the hidden gem for a cannoli that avoids the long lines for such things at Modern Bakery and one other in the more central part of the area. In Portland, one of the best meals I have ever had was at Hugo's, but sadly I see it is permanently closed. However, their website links to two others now operated by the same group.
