if you buy the fund -- they have to borrow the shares -- I don't follow.

I look at all the volume in that fund now ...
versus say mid-September or early November which would have been great short entries ...
if one was of that bent.

This look like a nice vehicle to put a floor under the stock -- not a good bet at all.

If you are wishing for a 1.5 or 2x fund ... you've got to realize that can't be done without options. With such a fund you would be taking on the risk of time decay -- just like an option ... but in the former case ... probably fairly short duration options compared to what you could buy -- i.e. you might have reduced risk with a long dated put option over buying a 1.5-2X bear fund -- if it existed.
