Bill,
Every CNN anchor knew the Russian collusion story was a hoax but they went on air every night to endorse and promote it anyway. They didn't want to lose their ignorant viewership.
Not that this excuses what they did in the slightest, but I believe everyone at CNN, on some level, believed the RuZZian collusion narrative.

And RuZZia was all too happy to feed into that narrative, no matter how far from the truth it was.

Disinformation only works when people want to believe it.
