Sure, they "can"... but, that doesn't mean that the "rules of success" are any different with a focus inside China than they are with focus outside of it ? So, if doing what need to "maintain control" conflicts with "market requirement to be competitive"... there isn't anywhere to hide from that... by turning inward ? Keeping the people happy counts a lot... and I do not mean Roman bread and circuses.. those are band aids.. Chinese folks expect more and are capable of far more .. Here I will defer to Jay.. Let us watch and brief :) BTW..
