Yes sir, Lind-Waldock! Had another broker as well and the name escapes me now. I was still in high school when I opened my first futures account, technically it was under my dad's name although 75% of the money was mine. Within 6 months I was down 80%! It was one of the greatest financial lessons ever learned. Never lost like that again, in that way. Only had one other expensive lesson at age 18 but looking back those were cheap lessons learned for the value creation that followed.

Even better it was a great technology lesson. Had a decent desktop computer for that time and Tradestation software and decided I was going to focus on trading futures that summer and needed realtime data. Where I lived was somewhat rural and only a few years prior received cable TV, the last among my close friends. Was still on dial-up, think still 28k not even 56k. But the futures data I got, think BMI was the name, operated as a cable box that harvested data sent over a specific channel. Maybe it was more than one channel I forget. So basically, I had a cable modem many years before cable internet was even offered to that residence. Only kept BMI for the summer it was expensive at the time but another experience I wouldn't trade for anything looking back.

The trading floor a few months ago, hmmm... have to wonder which floor he was referring to, eh?

Perhaps he can switch to other anachronistic claims, like Blue Horseshoe loves Anacott Steel! haha....
