Paul you have'nt commented on Kurlack or the WSJ article. If Kurlack thinks Intel is in for hard times he must think AMD is sound otherwise Where is the problem should AMD fail to make new .25 chips Intel shurly (don't call me shirle) Intel would pick up the slack and that would compensate for the possibility of a Kurlack implied decline in market demand.
As for the WSj article. To enter the consumer digital marketplace Intel faces a tough decision. consumer chips do not have the high margins CPU's enjoy so what the rush to engage in an investment that ultimatly canabolize your margins. Were Intel to do so the Journal would be writing about how stupid the company was for chasing low margin business. Intel has the advantage of the cash war-chest. The can afford to buy whatever they feel they are lacking. Better to let someone else risk the R&D which gets written off as incurred and sit back and buy the guy who scores with the winner, but only after the company has hit the power part of the growth curve when lighter incremental investments in pay increasingly higher returns. The Wjs Intel article was amusing but not very well thought out! They had a tendency to rub Andy's philosophy in his face... Not the proper edicate for the Time Man of the Year, much too early to take him from Hero to Goat! Intel's sell off might have more to do with a system cycle low then a result of investor concern to dump their Champion!Grazi!

<<MegaFlop 25 seems to be Jerry's little playground. Have you inquired to see if Sanders is camped down in Austin to help his troops solve his problem?>>

Believe it or not, I did inquire that message to some AMDers I know. They said that Jerry is "hands-on" this time. Apparently he is doing something this time, not sitting back and watching a bunch of incompetent managers screwing things up.
